Previously in this blog, I talked about how the aesthetics of the Disney Princess Brand have changed through the different iterations of Cinderella (read here ). Since then, Disney hasn't stopped rehashing and remaking its old animated classics. On the contrary, it has doubled down on this business model and its remakes have become more common, more widespread, and more successful. Since the 2015 remake of Cinderella , Disney has remade The Jungle Book (April 2016), Beauty and the Beast (March 2017), Dumbo (March 2019), Aladdin (May 2019), The Lion King (July 2019), Lady and the Tramp (November 2019), Mulan (scheduled for release July 2020) and Cruella (scheduled for release May 2021). As I suppose you are all aware, I've written extensively about the costumes for Padmé Amidala in the Star Wars Prequels in this blog. It seems only logical, this is, after all, a blog dedicated to Costume Design, and hers is pretty iconic and vast. You can find all my articles dedicated to her here . This week I'll briefly expand on more of the recommendations I've been posting on social media so you'll be able to make a more informed decision when choosing your choice entertainment for the afternoon. This time I'll cover the final recommendations I made from April 30th to May 2nd. Recommendation for APRIL 30th Here I go with my controversial opinions. I absolutely can’t stand Thomas Hardy’s classic FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD. It’s one of the few books I couldn’t actually finish. And yet, I love this adaptation. Thomas Vinterberg combines vibrant colors with intimate natural light in a rich and tactile take on this rather simple story. Carey Mulligan is radiant and fierce as Bathseba and gives the character a strength that I could not find in the original novel.
